Glossary
- aggregate
- Sand and gravel-sized particles of processed rock, as used in concrete, roads, bricks, etc.
- concrete batching plant
- Where aggregate is mixed with cement and water to produce concrete.
- concurrence agency
- A government agency that can provide advice about a development proposal as well as specify certain restrictions (as compared with an advice agency, which can only provide advice)

- Animals.
- greywacke
- A variety of sandstone generally characterized by hardness, dark color, and angular grains of quartz, feldspar, and small rock fragments set in matrix of clay-sized particles. Also called lithic sandstone.
- haul road
- The road used by trucks to haul quarried material.
- metagreywacke
- Metamorphosed greywacke. (metamorphosed: physically and/or chemically changed by extreme heat and pressure)
- quarry
- A type of shallow open-pit mine, although ‘quarry’ is commonly used to refer to any kind of open-pit mine.
- quartzite
- Metamorphic rock commonly formed by metamorphism of sandstone and composed of quartz. Commonly used in construction.
- wildlife corridor
- A band of native vegetation (ideally more than 100 metres wide) which provides a safe means for animals to move between habitat regions.
